Shahid Kapoor prepares for Arjun Reddy remake
Actor Shahid Kapoor seems to have put the disappointing performance of his last release, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, behind him and shifted his focus to his next project a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy.
The film directed by Sandeep Vanga will have him playing a man struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, abusing everything from morphine to cocaine, and it’s believed that Kapoor intends to keep the character as different as possible from his Tommy of Udta Punjab.
“In Udta Punjab, he played a reckless musician, and in this film, he will be seen playing a surgeon who abuses drugs and is careless about his work. Shahid is working hard to keep Tommy Singh and Arjun very different from one another. He wants to perfect this new character and give it his own twist,” says a source close to film.
Actress Tara Sutaria was initially cast as the film’s leading lady, but she was forced to opt out when her Student Of the Year 2 producer Karan Johar realised that the Arjun Reddy remake would come out before his film. Now, she’s been replaced by Kiara Advani. The film goes on floors this October.
