Herry Tangiri shed 15 kilos to look like Yuvraj Singh for Dhoni biopic

The young actor had to lose 15 kilos to fit into the character, to look exactly like the left handed batman.

Mumbai: Mahendra Singh Dhoni has shared several memorable partnerships with Yuvraj Singh in several cricket matches, so with the biopic 'M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' being made on him, the latter's character will obviously be crucial to the plot of the film. That is the reason Herry Tangiri, who was cast as Yuvraj in the film, had a lot of work to do on his physique before getting into his role. The young actor had to lose 15 kilos to fit into the character, to look like the left handed batsman.

“To get into the character of Yuvraj Singh, I had to train for two months. Not only that, I had to also lose 15 kg to look like Yuvraj. Neeraj sir and the production team had hired a dietician who looked after what I ate and made sure I lost the required amount of weight,” Herry said in a statement.

The actor, who was seen in the critically acclaimed ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’, had acted in another biopic before this, Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ but for that film he had to actually put on 12 kilos.

About losing weight this time, Herry said, “Being a Punjabi and a foodie, it was very difficult for me. But my dedication towards the character helped me control my eating habits. Even Yuvraj’s father with whom I shared screen space in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ said that I looked like his son which is a huge compliment for me.”

‘M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the role of Dhoni with Kiara Advani, Disha Patani and Anupam Kher playing important roles in the film.
