DC poll: Audience excited to watch Ki And Ka for its content!
Director R.Balki’s romantic-comedy starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor is all set to hit theatre screens this Friday. The film that sees Arjun play a househusband and Kareena a corporate wife, promises to tackle the gender stereotyping issue.
This new plot has generated a lot of interest among moviegoers. We ran a poll asking our Deccan Chronicle users if they would catch a screening of the film this weekend. 59% of those who participated in the poll said that they were eager to watch the film, because ‘it looked different’.
Although the leading stars Kareena and Arjun have been promoting their film for over a month, across the nation, 19% voters said that they woldn’t watch the film as there was ‘no buzz’ in the weeks rounding up to its big release. A significant 15% voters also said that they would rather ‘wait for the reviews’ before they headed to the ticket counters.
Will you go and watch #KareenaKapoor and #ArjunKapoor's #KiAndKa this Friday?

2016 has proved to be a year, where good content and execution has set the standard for a film’s success at the box office. While many think ‘Ki And Ka’ will revolutionise the way we stereotype gender in society, the film’s leading stars warn that their film should be taken as a unique entertainer.
At a recent promotion, Kareena told reporters, "Films are a medium of entertainment first. This movie is not a documentary on women empowerment or gender equality or aims to bring about a change in the society. People can see the film and enjoy it and if after watching it they take back some message, that's an add on, but this movie is nowhere a revolution.”
Arjun further added, "The film is not dedicated to women's empowerment. It is about the society which should treat men and women equally. Everyone should be free to make choices. We are not the torch bearers of women empowerment. I feel women are very empowered and we need to respect that.”
Director R.Balki also said that he has always kept entertainment as his top priority in films. He was quoted as saying, "I have never ever made a film with a message. I don't write a film keeping in mind the social issues. I just want to tell a story which is entertaining and fun. In the process of telling the story, if somebody gets a message, then well and good. But I think the fundamental purpose of the film is entertainment."
