BO Day 4: SRK's Raees underperforms, Hrithik's Kaabil still struggling

The Shah Rukh Khan starrer has been underperforming across North India.

Mumbai: The much awaited opening figures of the titanic clash between 'Raees' and 'Kaabil' is out and it's nothing like how trade pundits had predicted!

While the Shah Rukh Khan starrer managed a decent 92 crore rupees approximately over the extended weekend. Though the numbers are phenomenal for a film surviving a clash as high-profile as this, it has still fared below expectations.

Boxofficeindia.com cites the film's average performance across the North of India as the reason behind the film under-performing, despite of Shah Rukh Khan's humongous fan-base throughout India.

'Kaabil,' which had to settle for a 40:60 share on the screens with 'Raees,' upon release, has been struggling real hard to survive on the positive word-of-mouth and reviews. The Hrithik Roshan starrer has managed a 54 crore rupees approximate gross.

Aamir Khan's 'Dangal,' which had been the last big release, grossed over 100 crores within three days of its release, while Shah Rukh's Rahul Dholakia directorial is yet to hit the mark, even six days post release.

Both the films need to stay positively steady throughout the second week, to scrape through and break even, but as things are, only 'Raees' has the chance to be declared a hit.

While the worldwide gross of 'Raees' stands at a commendable 185 crore rupees (approx), Kaabil could manage only 90 crore rupees (approx.).

The Sanjay Gupta directorial had clashed with 'Raees,' which also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a parallel lead, on January 25 amid elevated fanfare.
