Following much furore over his presence in India after the Uri attack — in which 18 jawaans lost their lives — Fawad Khan is back home in Pakistan. Reliable sources confirm that the actor, who plays one of the four principal characters in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) won’t be in India to promote the film. Giving in to the political tensions following the attacks, Fawad, much like other artistes across the border has decided to stay put in his home country for a while. According to a prominent producer-director, all Pakistani artistes have been asked to “stay home”.
“Apparently, the fine actors and musicians who work in our country have been advised by their government to stay home and seek work there. I don’t think we’ll be seeing Fawad or Ali Zafar in Mumbai in the near future,” he said.
This would also mean that the actor won’t be around to promote his latest Bollywood project, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Says a source close to the development, “All of Karan’s plans to bring together the four actors — Aishwarya, Ranbir, Anushka and Fawad for the promotions of ADHM have fallen through. Fawad was to join the ADHM team in the second week of October for promotions. But now, considering the escalated political tensions between India and Pakistan, the film will be promoted without Fawad.”
Does that mean the actor will skip his appearance on TV show Koffee With Karan too? The source certainly doesn’t think so. The two may meet at Bollywood’s favourite alternate destination, Dubai. “There is still time for Fawad’s episode. Karan can always record Fawad’s episode in Dubai,” says the source.
