Exclusive: I am very fortunate, says Darshan on replacing Ajay in Mirza Juuliet

Not so long ago, Ajay Devgn had agreed to work with Rajesh Ram Singh in the director’s Mirza Juuliet. So enthused was the actor, and it was he who suggested the name of the film that the director quickly lapped it up. For some reason later, the actor backed out of the film. But not everyone’s disheartened by the move. At least not actor Darshan Kumar (who played Priyanka’s Chopra’s husband in Mary Kom). The actor is thankful that the role in the love story came to him after Devgn backed out.

Says the actor, “My director had approached Ajay Devgn for this film and he even agreed to do it. He was very excited and keen to work with the director. I don’t know what happened, but he didn’t end up doing it. I am very fortunate that his role fell into my lap.” Featuring Darshan Kumar, Pia Bajpai and Chandan Roy Sanyal in lead roles, the film is helmed by Rajesh Ram Singh. It is a romantic action thriller based in Uttar Pradesh and shot in Mirzapur, Banaras and Dharamsala.
