The Khiladi is in town!

Akshay Kumar zoomed in and out of Hyderabad, but made time to talk about things dear to him.

Akshay Kumar is a busy man. Just how busy you ask? Take this for instance, immediately after he wrapped up work in Delhi, he took a private flight to Hyderabad on Saturday for the promotion of his film Jolly LLB 2. He started his day here, with an interview while travelling from Begumpet to the hotel he was staying at. And despite all the rush, he was still running behind schedule. A colleague of his says, “He has too much work on his plate right now, but he wants everything done well.”

Then the man himself speaks. “In Jolly LLB 2, I play the 15th assistant in a law firm, with big dreams to become a successful lawyer. For the movie, I took inspiration from the stories my father used to tell me of Akbar and Birbal.”

Recently, Akshay was in the news for his social initiative, a website or an app, where people could directly donate money to the family of martyrs. “Helping the soldiers was always on my mind and the government too has come forward to support it. They are concerned about the well-being of our army personnel, and they are doing good things. The response to my initiative has been great especially from the youth,” he elaborates.

While he has received a lot of appreciation, many were quick to point out that this initiative was perfectly timed with the release of his movie. “It has nothing to do with the release. I don’t mix my profession with the things I feel from my heart,” he explains.

On the work front, Akshay also shot for 2.0 with Rajinikanth. Talking about his association with the South superstar, he shares, “Working with him has been a great experience. He is a legend and a wonderful man. I am in awe of him. While filming the movie, I had picked up some Tamil words but now I seem to have completely forgotten all of it. I have a few friends in South film industry as well.”

Of late, Akshay has been portraying characters inspired from real life.

“All my movies have been doing well and there shouldn’t be any comparison. Whether it is a commercial film or a film based on real life incidents,” says the star.

For one of his upcoming films, a home production, Twinkle Khanna turns producer. When asked about Twinkle, Akshay says, “Whatever she has done and achieved is on her own. Any role she takes up, she does so only when she is passionate about the work.” For Akshay, family is very important and he clearly wants his children to focus on their education. “For them, it’s their time for Tom and Jerry, and studies,” he says.
