Why did Karan Johar ridicule Rakhi Sawant for Botox when he has done it himself?

It's bizarre to see an powerful celebrity belittling a smaller star for something they both have indulged in.

Mumbai: Bollywood is an ocean of contrasting personalities and honestly that’s what makes it all the more charming. If this industry has given us prepossessing divas like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit, we have also thoroughly enjoyed the entertaining presence of celebrities like Rakhi Sawant, who chose to go under the knife for enhancing her assets.

If we all remember clearly, just weeks ago, Karan Johar had very openly mocked Rakhi Sawant’s multiple encounters with Botox because ‘she does not matter to anyone of us’. He commented, “Rakhi Sawant’s name is always easier to mention because she doesn’t matter to any of us…Rakhi has become Rocky (American sports drama film) now…she has become like all the six series of Rocky.”

The ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ producer showed no mercy on the actress’s personal choices and called her ‘a caricature of her own caricature’.

“…what happened to that face she used to be bearable, she has become a caricature of her caricature…she was already a caricature like you can imagine what she has become…I had her on my show in season 1 or 2 and she was kind of fun when she said ‘jo bhagwan nahin deta who doctor de deta hain…’ but I think she has been through an entire institute,” mocked Karan.

Now the irony of the situation is, Karan Johar, in the promo of his celebrity chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’, has confessed to going under the knife for ‘adjusting his nose’ and even got ‘botoxed’. The director defended his actions by calling it something that everyone does in the industry.

Why would Karan vehemently criticise and mock Rakhi for something he has indulged in himself? Ever since the news of Karan confessing to getting a nose job broke, everyone’s been praising him for coming out. Different reactions for a man of influence, is it?

Rakhi, who has acted in numerous movies and performed some really sizzling item numbers, ‘owns’ her face and no one is authorised to ridicule her for the choices she has made, especially on a show that has over 1 million listeners.

If man of Johar’s stature reveals his Botox tales, we appreciate his ‘honesty’. But if Rakhi Sawant talks about the same, we ridicule. If this isn’t hypocrisy, what is?
