Raid director Raj Kumar Gupta opens up on marrying his No One Killed Jessica actress

When reports of filmmaker Rajkumar Gupta having tied the knot with actress-filmmaker Myra Karn emerged last month, no one was taken by surprise. Rumours regarding the two had been floating around for a while.

The filmmaker reveals that he wasn’t planning on marrying his No One Killed Jessica actress until recently. “Myra has been a dear friend for a very long time, even before No One Killed Jessica. But we never thought of taking our relationship to the next level. We were happy being friends. We started thinking about marriage only recently and here we are,” he says.

And both families were accepting of the alliance. “Though my parents are from a small town, they are very open-minded and liberal. They like Myra and have wholeheartedly welcomed her to our family. Luckily for me, Myra’s family also accepted me without hesitation. So there was no drama.”

The newly-wed had a small ceremony in Ranchi. “Only our immediate families were there. We didn’t invite anyone from the film industry. It wouldn’t have been fair to invite some people, and not invite others. Now Myra and I are looking at a date that is convenient for both of us to have a wedding reception.”

Meanwhile, the filmmaker is busy working on his next film, “It’s another hard-hitting, raw, gritty subject, just like Raid was, and Arjun Kapoor’s playing the lead role. I am not in a position to reveal any more at the moment. But I can tell you this, Myra’s not going to be part of the film. She’s busy with her own projects at the moment. Of course, we will work together again in the future,” he says.

Gupta believes that the good times have arrived in his life. “Raid was a success, and now marriage has given me a sense of stability and calm. I couldn’t have asked for more,” he says.
