Stree: Shraddha reveals impact of horror films, Rajkummar shares spooky tale on sets

The film is about Rajkumar's encounter with a ghost that appears in his village for four days every year.

It’s not often that Bollywood gives us a horror-comedy, which is why the trailer of Stree starring Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor has got everyone talking. The film is about Rajkumar’s encounter with a ghost that appears in his village for four days every year.

Talking about how he came up with the idea, director Amar Kaushik says, “A few years ago, when I was in college, someone told us that if we went to the area at the edge of some hills, a woman would appear. We went there, saw an image, and refused to go any further. We were fattus, but that’s where the idea of Stree was born.”

The film’s lead actor has a rather humourous take on the paranormal. “I don’t know if I believe in ghosts, but they definitely believe in me,” he says.

But he’s also had some ghostly encounters that have left him spooked. “When I was shooting, I saw an apparition, and my director Amar shot a picture of it. I even posted that picture on my social media handle because it really spooked us out. There are energies out there that we cannot see,” Rao adds. Meanwhile, Shraddha reveals, “I am scared of horror films. After I watch one, I have to keep the lights on at night.”
