Baahubali 2 shows cancelled in Tamil Nadu, here is why
Mumbai: Fans of magnum opus ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ in all of Tamil Nadu will now have to wait to watch the movie after the early morning shows got cancelled.
This last minute cancellation has left the city of Chennai shocked as fans had turned up in huge numbers for the morning show, only to be informed about the cancellation at the counters.
Reportedly, the reason behind this fiasco is finances. The financial settlement between K Productions (distributors of ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ in Tamil) and producers of the film is yet to be done. The producers have not given clearance to their Tamil distributors to screen the film before 11 am, which will result in a huge monetary loss as Chennai is believed to be one of the biggest markets for this franchise.
An irate fan, who queued up at 3 in the morning, told a daily, “I am here outside Rohini theatre from 3am and it was so irresponsible of the theatre owners to sell tickets if the show rights were not there. There was a lathi charge and two people were taken into custody.” The cancellation of morning shows resulted in resentment amongst fans that was followed by chaos outside theatres, prompting the police to lathi charge.
The tickets for ‘Baahubali 2’ are sold out everywhere in Chennai for the next one week, which means that the unfortunate ones, who opted for early morning show, will have to wait till May 4 to watch the film.
The theatres have not refunded the money to their e-ticket customers.
