Salim Khan supports Salman because he is promoting sports and not alcohol, tobacco

Salman has been in controversy for the last 25 years regularly. Not a single time I supported him, says Salim Khan.

Mumbai: Salman Khan, who is currently shooting ‘Sultan’ has been announced as the Goodwill Ambassador for the Indian contingent at Rio Olympics, this year.

Upset with the announcement, Flying Sikh Milkha Singh voiced his disapproval towards it few days back. After which, Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan had lashed out at Milkha in a series of tweets early this week. In his tweets, Salim defended his son saying that he was a good athlete and he also said that it was the Bollywood industry which “resurrected him (Milkha) from fading away in oblivion”.

The entire scenario caused a fiasco in the country. While many sided with Salman Khan and congratulated him for being the Goodwill Ambassador, few also expressed their disappointments.

The angry fans also lashed out at his father Salim Khan for supporting the actor. Now, the renowned screenwriter has put forth his point of view via series of tweets.

“Salman has been in controversy for the last 25 years regularly. Not a single time I supported him. I was known as a fair person,” wrote Salim Khan.

Rio Olympics is scheduled to commence on August 5 and end on August 21. The Olympic torch has been lit in southern Greece, kicking off the countdown to Rio 2016 on April 21.

In a solemn and elaborate ceremony worthy of a 'Game of Thrones' pageant, women in ancient-Greek style dresses and men in tunics performed symbolic rituals at the site of Ancient Olympia.

After its sprint through Greece, the torch will travel to Brazil on April 27 to begin a 95-day tour visiting 83 cities, 26 state capitals and 500 towns, reaching an estimated 90 percent of the population.
