Love is an excuse it's all about lust: Vikram Bhatt

Director Vikram Bhatt talks about his upcoming film Love Games, and his take on love.

Director Vikram Bhatt, whose film Love Games will release soon, has had two alleged high-profile affairs, with Sushmita Sen and Ameesha Patel.

Talking about his take on love, says Vikram, “There’s a thin line in the process of love games, which varies from person to person. One person may call you sexually liberated while another one may call you a pervert; actually it’s all from your point of view. It depends on how you look at it. It’s like the half full, half empty glass.”

Vikram keeps telling his daughter not to get married. “I’m personally anti marriage, pro casual sex. My ex-wife totally thinks I’m misguiding my daughter by saying never get married, please live-in. I have my own thought process. We are all social animals, yet this is what is happening in our society from the recent past — things like threesomes, wife swapping, swinging and so on are things that are happening regularly. I am not a hypocrite, I am saying whatever I see in front of me.”

Talking about the film Love Games, Vikram says, “Love is an excuse, lust amuses. There is nothing like love. Love is foreplay to lust. It’s a carnal world, let’s get real about what the youth wants. The youth is on Tinder. Facebook, according to me, is the biggest dating site; people hook up on Facebook and WhatsApp. There are more affairs going on in WhatsApp than in coffee shops. There’s a very nice line: ‘You are what you Google.’ I think Love Games is a film that breaks clutter.”

On sex and the tale in Love Games, he says, “Sex tends to get boring with one person and one tends to say ‘let’s add one more person’ and you do a threesome and you play love games. The more you have sex, the thirstier you are; because there’s no end to it. It’s the story of two such people, one who is a sex addict and one who uses sex as a pain killer, and how the boy finds love. “

What’s his take on love? “I’m bored of love. Love Games should have been called Lust Games, but everyone told me, ‘Are you mad?’ It’s, in fact, Lust Games. Someone told me that Jungle Book is releasing on the same day, I said both films are about swingers (smiles).”

Talking about the Censor ratings, Vikram says, “The film went to the censors, then it went to the tribunal. After two hours, they rated it ‘A’ without a cut.”
