Team Sairat was in Hyderabad on Sunday to attend a screening of the Marathi movie, which was shot in the city and had characters speaking Telugu. People fought to get a glimpse of the stars who were equally excited.
The movie — about a couple who eloped from their home and reached Hyderabad to start a new life — was a sleeper hit. The screening was attended by crew including lead actress Rinku Rajguru, and her co-stars Tanuji Galgunde, Arbaz Shaikh and Anuja Muley.
Rinku thanked people for loving her role of Archie. At the theatre, the cast also broke into a jig during a song and the audience joined them. Director Nagraj Manjule couldn’t hide his joy to be back in the city.
“I feel happy to be in Hyderabad, where I shot Sairat. Here I have many friends like IPS officer Mahesh Bhagwat. My brother Balaji was also here to help me with the locations. Also, I had Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti and Suresh — both Telugus — as part of the camera team. So the shooting was very comfortable in Hyderabad.”
And there is one added attraction to this visit. “I am remaking Sairat in Telugu and will be directing it as well,” Nagraj announced. Later on Sunday, the cast and crew were felicitated by Maharashtrians of Hyderabad at an event held at Ravindra Bharathi....
