Box office: Saif-Shahid-Kangana's Rangoon has a poor opening weekend

The love story, set against the backdrop of World War II, collected just Rs 14.31 crores in the opening weekend.

Mumbai: After an unimpressive start at the box office on Friday, ‘Rangoon’ did not witness any major jump in collections.

Unlike the usual trend where Saturdays and Sundays see a growth for a film, ‘Rangoon’ witnessed a fall. As a result, the film collected just Rs 14.31 crores at the box office in the opening weekend.

As reported by boxofficeindia.com, the film collected 5.06 crores on Friday, followed by 4.75 crores coming in on Saturday and Rs 4.50 crores on Sunday.

With the collections witnessing a downward spiral, it looks unlikely that the weekdays could be any better for the film.

Moreover, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Jolly LLB 2’ is still adding on to its collections in the third week and ‘The Ghazi Attack’ is still holding on in some parts of the country in its second week and these films could also pose competition for the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial.
