Women can sport comfortable sheer tops, shirt dresses, slip dresses, loose-fitted maxi skirts and checkerboard prints among other things. Whereas men can sport floral shirts, message tees and shorts.

Designer Anamika Khanna, who is known to be one of Sonam Kapoor’s favourites, says that the trick is to stop wearing matching outfits. “This season, it’s all about wearing different things and making it look great. You can wear mismatched tops, bottoms and bags, but do it in a clever way. Wear breathable fabrics and bright colours. Women can wear simple clothes and instead accessorise a lot with bags, belts and sandals. Men can go funky, checked and printed shirts. Quirky shorts will also look really good,” says Anamika.

Designer Archana Rao says, “Women can wear a shirt or shift dress for a day-out. Slip and satin dresses can also look great when teamed with a shirt. Also, a big and white cotton shirt can be worn as a dress. You can style up these dresses by using a sleek belt. Men and women can wear printed shirts and denims. Coming to colours, stick to whites and pastels for your outfits and use bright colours for your accessories. A brightly-coloured sling bag, funky shoes and chains can look great. Men should experiment with florals and team it up with bright shoes and a leather strap watch.”

Celebrity stylist Rick Roy says, “It’s about 75 per cent comfort and 25 per cent style. Avoid synthetic fabrics and go for linen, cotton and malmal. Glitter is trending all over the world. So, you can add a bit of glitter to your clothes. Men can go for loose-fitted pants and pyjamas. You can also wear shorts. Team it up with hats, caps and sunglasses and you’re ready to go!”

It’s also important that your make-up doesn’t trickle down in the heat. Celebrity make-up artist Clint Fernandez, who has worked with Virat Kohli, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor, says, “Sunscreen with an SPF of 50 is a must. Not only does it protect your skin from sun, dust and pollution, it also makes your skin look younger. Apply a BB cream or moisturiser and then your sunscreen. Follow it up with a compact. You can jazz up the look with kajal, mascara and a liner. Use lip shades such as corals, peaches and oxblood red. Avoid using gloss. Men must stick with only sunscreen and mattifying powder or compact. Hair care is also very important. You can mix a few tablespoons of sunscreen with water and spray it on your hair before stepping out in sun. Also, avoid colouring your hair.”
