Box office: Alia Bhatt-Shah Rukh's Dear Zindagi takes a good opening on day one

Mumbai: Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dear Zindagi’, which released this Friday, has managed to do decent business at the box office on its first day, collecting Rs. 8.75 crore nett approximately, according to boxofficeindia.com

The collections are good as it is more of a niche film catering to a certain section of audiences unlike Shah Rukh’s other commercial films like ‘Chennai Expresss’ and ‘Happy New Year’.

It would now depend on how the film manages to perform on Saturday and Sunday, as the first weekend collections often decide the final verdict for the film.

The fresh pairing of Shah Rukh and Alia and interesting teasers had already raised curiosity about the film and it seemed to have worked well for the makers.

‘Dear Zindagi' also stars Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi, Ali Zafar and Aditya Roy Kapur among others and is directed by Gauri Shinde.
