Shweta refused offers from KJo, other directors, won't face camera again after ad row

The saddest thing about the withdrawal of the jewellery ad featuring father-daughter combo Amitabh and Shweta Bachchan is that it was Shweta’s acting debut of sorts. Turns out that Shweta never wanted to face the camera in the first place.

Says a family friend, “For years and years, Shweta has been offered the best of banners and film projects, but she desisted. She has an inbuilt resistance towards an acting career. Her brother Abhishek was the actor, not her. She got offers from Karan Johar, Rakesh Roshan and R. Balki among others. But her answer was always a polite ‘no’. She was more into writing like her grandfather Harivansh Rai Bachchan.”

The family friend adds, “She agreed only because this was her chance to share the screen with her father. Now, with the ad in trouble, she’s unlikely to ever face the camera again.”
