Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversy-ridden film 'Padmaavat' has finally made its way in the cinemas. According to Box Office India report, the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor starrer has had a very good first day of around 18 crore net as per early estimates. The number is not considered a good one since the cost of the film with it needing a 120 crore plus worldwide theatrical share to cover costs.
The paid preview shows that started on 24th January evening collected total number of 5 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Despite challenges and extremely limited preview shows [which commenced in evening], #Padmaavat collects ₹ 5 cr in previews screenings on Wed."

However, it has to be taken into account that the film has lost around 30-35% of its market with some circuits completely shut and others partially shut.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is facing wrath from many fringe groups for allegedly distorting the history. Amid controversies, the film released worldwide on January 25.
