Sanjay Dutt’s character in Raj Kumar Hirani’s biopic on the life and crimes of the Munnabhai star gets a beautiful soulmate. While the role of Sanjay will be played by Ranbir Kapoor, it has now come to light that the very elegant Dia Mirza has been cast as Dutt’s wife, Maanyata.
Speaking on the unusual pairing, a source close to the project says, “Sanjay Dutt met Maanyata when he was in his 40s. So, it’s not as if Ranbir and Dia will look like a mismatch. Dia has worked before with producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani in Munnabhai MBBS. Both Chopra and Hirani felt that Dia had the right, serene personality to carry off the role of a wife who waits patiently for the monstrous tangles in her husband’s life to be sorted out.” This would be one interesting pair and film to watch.
