Akshay Kumar believes films can bring a change in the society
Akshay Kumar is always associated with different films, in a bid to bring about change. A very busy man, he always gives his best. “Till the time I am working on a film, I am involved in it. Only when the shooting is over, do I move forward,” he says.
Akki, who will next be seen in Padman with Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor, is currently busy with the promotions of the film that is based on the life of social activist Arunachalam Muruga-nantham, who revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene by creating a low-cost sanitary napkin machine.
Like for every other film, the actors on the sets of Padman also had a lot of fun working on the project. Akshay says it was also quite the educational experience. “In one of the scenes, director R. Balki asked me to literally place the pad on a pair of pink underpanties,” he begins. “Even before I could enact the scene, I got a little conscious. Not only was I shy, I was also astounded!”
The actor also reveals that despite living with women all his life, he wasn’t completely aware about the little nuances of menstruation. “Undeniably, I have learned more about this topic only after finishing this film. Let me tell you, this is not the Stone Age; we are talking about menstruating, a natural phenomena,” he says, adding that everyone should be aware of it.
After Padman releases in January, he will begin shooting for Kesari, which is based on the battle of Saragarhi.
If we go by what reports say, Akshay is really excited to play the role of a Sikh soldier.
