Can't dare to kiss for 'Masti' while working in dad's film: Varun Dhawan
Mumbai: Varun may be eight to nine films old but he has learned his lessons well. He does not believe in being called a star at this point in time. “Stardom can be obtained only after surviving and giving good films for almost 20 years. The real stars who have dedicated their services to the film industry are Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. I do not come in this league at all,” he reasons.
Further elaborating, he said, “Having said this, let me also tell you that obtaining stardom and then keeping it going is a herculean task. If at all you make a mistake and your fans or audiences dislike you, then you are nowhere. So right now I am not a star at all. Let me complete more films in the coming few years successfully, only then can I say I have attained stardom.”
Varun, who’ll next be seen father David Dhawan’s ‘Judwaa 2,’ also shed light into what it’s like to perform intimate scenes in his father’s movie.
“It’s not that I perform kissing scenes merely for fun and masti. And while kissing in front of dad, I can never dare to do it for masti alone. [laughs] It’s a part of our job and therefore we have to perform it with utmost honesty. Well, I do feel a little uneasy while performing it in front of dad but obviously in the film Judwaa it’s a reflex action as the character is such. Thus I needed to keep my body in control to portray the reflex action to the best of my ability. It’s like how when anyone may be possessed by the deity, ‘Maa,’ their actions of being possessed are different. Similarly, knowingly or unknowingly I have to kiss.”
‘Judwaa 2,’ also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu, has Salman Khan reprising his iconic roles as twins from the original.
