Deepika Padukone is now one of the top ten highest paid actresses in the world. The actress has made it to the Forbes’ World’s Highest Paid Actresses list, with earnings of $10 million. Deepika is the only Indian actress and the sole newcomer who made it to the list this year.
Ranking her on the 10th position, Forbes said that the 30-year-old actress “has already scored box office gold in Bollywood” with movies such as Bajirao Mastani and Piku.
Though Deepika “earns far less than her Hollywood counterparts for roles, instead, she compensates with over a dozen lucrative endorsements — a hedging tactic employed by many of her Hollywood peers”.
Deepika, who made her debut with Om Shanti Om, “has since starred in several films that have crossed the $150 million or Rs 100 crore mark — a barometer for box office success in India”.
Deepika “has also become something of a style icon” for launching her own label for an Indian online shopping site. Deepika will be seen in xXx: Return of Xander Cage next year, making her Hollywood debut alongside Vin Diesel. Meanwhile, actress Jennifer Lawrence top-ped the list for the second year in a row.
