Many of us know Sonam Kapoor is a part of Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming film Sanju. But what we may not know is that her role isn’t a big one.
Says Sonam, “In terms of space, footage and impact, I’d say it is equivalent to what I had done for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.”
The actress admits there’s a reason she agreed to do a relatively small part in this controversial biopic.
“I was very keen to do a Rajkumar Hirani film. I am also doing another project of producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga. I’ve known Vinod Chopra and his wife (critic) Anupama Chopra for the longest time. There was no way I would not work with them when they asked me to,” she says.
This film also sees Ranbir and Sonam together again after 11 years.
“Ranbir and I started working together in Saawariya. We never got a chance to work together again until Sanju,” she says.
About her role in the film, she says, “I’ve signed a non-disclosure agreement with the producers. So I can’t reveal much. But I play Sanjay Dutt’s girlfriend in the film.”
But if she’s the girlfriend, why is she screaming for the mangalsutra in the trailer? “That I can’t tell you. But that incident shown in the trailer (where a very high Dutt drapes a toilet seat around his girlfriend’s neck) actually happened.”...
