When Ayushmann Khurrana sang on trains to earn money
Before Ayushmann Khurrana ventured into acting, he was a host as well as a good singer, with quite a few music albums to his credit. However, not many know that Ayushmann also sang in trains at times, to sponsor money for his trips.
Turning nostalgic during the launch of a number from his upcoming film, Meri Pyaari Bindu, Ayushmann says, “Once, while on a Delhi bound train, Paschim Express, I had to sing in order to collect some quick cash as all of us friends decided to attend a festival which was being organised there. We sang almost all the way through and by the end of the trip, we had collected enough money to be able to go to Goa! After that, many a time, we would sing on the train, so I guess I qualify to be called a “train singer”!”
Surprisingly, Ayushmann and Parineeti’s recently released number from Meri Pyaari Bindu reminds us of Shammi Kapoor’s foot-tapping numbers. So, did Ayushmann follow any of Shammi’s films before donning his famous dance steps? “Yes. While performing this sexy, peppy foot tapping number, I did turn nostalgic and was reminded of Shammiji’s songs. But before going onto the floors, I did not watch any of his films nor did I learn the steps from them, although I am undoubtedly a Shammi fan. We can never even think of coming close to performing like him. As one of the best dancers of the Golden Era, he was and is unmatchable. But we are happy that our song has been drawing everyone’s attention and is moving up the charts,” concludes Ayushmann.
