Avengers creator Stan Lee ventures into Bollywood with Chakra The Invincible
Comic book legend Stan Lee has partnered with Phantom films to launch his first Bollywood film titled ‘Chakra The Invincible’. The live-action film will be directed by ‘Udaan’ filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane.
Stan Lee launched his first Indian superhero character Chakra, back in 2011. In 2013, he launched a cartoon series before moving on to a more ambitious film deal.
Chakra tells the story of Raju Rai, a young Indian orphan living in Mumbai. Determined to use science to unlock the secrets of human potential, Raju and his mentor, the genius scientist Dr. Singh, develop a technological suit that activates the mystical Chakras of the body, unleashing superhuman abilities and powers. Convinced that none must know of his new super-powered identity, Raju gives his new, mighty avatar a name, one that will represent everything he is and can ever hope to be, one that will resonate throughout the world and have the dramatic effect of bringing fear into the hearts of evildoers— CHAKRA, The Invincible!
"I'm a fan of Bollywood films and I am really excited about launching ‘Chakra The Invincible’ as my first Bollywood superhero movie. Vikramaditya is an amazingly talented filmmaker who I have no doubt can make the Chakra film a massive hit in India and around the world. I only hope he remembers to include my cameo!" Lee said in a statement.
Motwane is currently working on the Chakra screenplay with Lee and Graphic India co-founder and CEO Sharad Devarajan. Phantom’s Madhu Mantena will produce the film with Devarajan and POW! Entertainment’s Gill Champion. Phantom co-founder Anurag Kashyap had initially expressed his eagerness to make a superhero film 'Doga', but shelved the project after the failure of 'Bombay Velvet' at the box office.

Reports state that the film version of Chakra, will feature an older version of the titular character in his 20s, unlike the animated kids property.
