Plus Size gets a big boost!

Susan Fernandes, a fashion designer says, “ I don't necessarily believe that loose clothes are good for plus sized women

The local fashion industry is abuzz with a new trend. Many stores in Bengaluru cater to the curvy women who deserve to flaunt their diva styles with confidence. Women who have made peace with their voluptuous frames and accepted the fact that being chubby and cute is the new hot thing.

As far as the stores are concerned, there is a lot of demand for plus size clothes.

There are seasons where you want to wear tight dresses but on the other hand there are seasons which make you lazy and go for that loose fit clothing. Vanishree Bhatt, model and writer, says, “Plus size clothes are great, comfortable and is in this season. Once in a while wearing baggy jeans with a t-shirt looks cool. I do not think plus size only caters to women who are chubby, but slim girls who carry an over-sized t-shirt as a dress with a belt, surely make a style statement.”

Susan Fernandes, a fashion designer says, “ I don’t necessarily believe that loose clothes are good for plus sized women, but a well cut and tailored garment can make them look amazing. The trend now is to wear long asymmetrical dresses in natural cotton and linens.”

There is a great demand for plus size clothes. Riya Kodali, fashion designer says, “Plus size is a meaningless term for me as society treats women as a different group of species who wear these clothes. These days both men and women want to wear comfortable, loose clothes and do not worry about the perfect fit and size. For me also, I am not obese or heavy, still I wear and flaunt bigger size clothes as they are hassle free and easy to carry all day long.”

The average size of an Indian is not zero anymore. Actor Chaitra Rao Sachin says, “My husband and I are plus sizes and we bought our clothes in the US earlier and that too once a year. But now I can find new brands which offer various styles and I can shop regularly. I am very happy with the options, quality and fall of material being offered. ”
