The makers of the Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Sharma, Kriti Sanon-starrer Arjun Patiala have been struggling to find a suitable release date for their film. Though director Rohit Jugraj has already completed the film, he and the producers can’t settle on the right week for it to come out. The film was to have hit silver screens on September 13 this year, but it has kept getting postponed for one reason or another.

A source says, “The market is getting tougher. Even regional films are getting a huge number of screens these days, and the number of single-screen theatres is dwindling. It’s not just Arjun Patiala, but many films that are suffering because of this. They are releasing with as many screens as they can get.”

Rumour has it that the makers are currently looking at a weekend in February, 2019 as a tentative release date, but they will probably face quite a bit of competition even then. “February 2019 has films like Sushant Singh Rajput’s Son Chiriya, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga, Gully Boy and De De Pyaar De among other films. Given the current scenario, it could be the best month for them, but the release won’t be as big as a Patiala peg,” the source adds.

Incidentally, Diljit’s last film Soorma also struggled to find a release date after the makers realised that a clash with Sanju would be a foolish move.
