I owe everything to Arjun Reddy: Shalini Pandey

Ahead of her upcoming big-ticket film, actress Shalini Pandey reminisces about the film she shot to fame

In a few days from now, Shalini Pandey is set to have a huge launch in Bollywood with her big-ticket theatrical debut opposite Ranveer Singh, in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. However, on the fourth anniversary of the 2017-film Arjun Reddy, which catapulted the actress to instant stardom, the actress says, “I owe everything to Arjun Reddy because it put me on the map as a performer.

"I had done my level best to put up a performance that I was immensely proud of and I’m glad that audiences appreciated my hard work. I owe everything to my director Sandeep Vanga for his belief in me as an actor. I’m fortunate that I was a part of his vision to create an unparalleled love story that has etched its place in the hearts of film lovers.”

Shalini goes on to add that Arjun Reddy’s success fuelled her passion to be recognised as a versatile artiste. “The success of the film gave me a lot of confidence to pursue my personal goal of becoming an artist who wants to make a name as a performer, who loves to be versatile. Jayeshbhai Jordaar will be testimony to this statement,” says the actress, although adding that she can’t, talk too much about her role right now.

As a part of her prep for the film, Shalini has recently lost a lot of weight and transformed her physique. “I’ve been proud of my physique and never bothered about what people said about me. I never wanted to be any body type except when it came to the characters I play in my films. If filmmakers want a character with a certain physical ability or characteristics, I will have to look like that and I put my efforts into it as well,” the actress elaborates, signing off.
