Bawling kid in viral video identified
Remember the crying kid whose video went viral a few days ago? Turns out that the three-year old is Haya, niece of Bollywood singers Toshi and Sharib Sabri. The video was extensively shared by many, including cricketers Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, appealing to parents to refrain from indulging in child abuse on social media.
So after much backlash, Toshi finally spoke about the video and said that his sister’s parenting skills cannot be judged based on a video. In his clarification, the singer said that all the crying was so that her mother doesn’t make her study and allows her play. He further claims that the child is very stubborn, adding that this happens in every household.
Now, while Toshi’s statement is creating a lot of buzz, the fact remains that incidents at home make the child live in fear not to forget that if a similar incident would have taken place abroad, the mother and the person shooting the video, would have been put behind bars, following which the child would be sent to foster care.
“It’s very unfair for children to be treated like this by their own near and dear ones. This sort of behaviour robs the kid of their childhood and leaves a scar on their minds which might affect their mannerisms later on. Beating them will only worsen the situation,” says Shanta Sinha, a child rights activist.
