30 down, 70 to go for Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti Chopra has wrapped 30 sessions of badminton practice for the role of Saina Nehwal. But the actress has got over 70 per cent left to practice, and those sessions are going to be a lot more tedious than what she has already done thus far.
The Amole Gupte directorial was initially slated to have Shraddha Kapoor in the role, who even practiced for a few sessions and broke a few limbs in the process. Saina was keen to have a shuttler’s offspring Deepika Padukone in the role, but Parineeti has bagged the film instead.
Parineeti has not just been trying to lose weight for the film, but also trying to gain muscles for the role to ensure endurance. She has only managed a few sessions thus far. “It is not an easy film to do. She did take a few tips from cousin Priyanka Chopra, who played boxer Mary Kom on screen, but that was not enough to play a badminton player, who needs to balance endurance, agility and speed all at one go,” says a source close to the development of the film.
Parineeti is awaiting the release of her films Jabariya Jodi and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, apart from the Hindi remake of The Girl On The Train remake and Bhuj: The Pride of India.
