Production team, cinematographer walk out of Vidya Balan's Begum Jaan
Vidya Balan’s next film ‘Begum Jaan’, that is a Hindi remake of Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’, has hit a roadblock just days before production could get underway.
Reports state that is not the stars, but the production team that have walked out on the film. Heads of the production design team, the costume designer and the cinematographer have all walked out because of budget issues as the makers were allegedly ‘cutting corners’.
The film that was originally set in Punjab, had the location shifted to Hyderabad, Rajasthan, before finally setting up in Kolkata. Accroding to reports, the team did not want to compromise on the quality of the film and its ‘brilliant script’.
In the film set during the India-Pakistan partition, Vidya will be seen playing the madam of a brothel. The part which was originally essayed by Rituparna Sengupta, is considered to be Vidya’s most challenging role till date. Srijit Mukherji will make his Bollywood directorial debut with this remake of his own film. It is being produced by Mahesh Bhatt.
The makers are now frantically looking for replacements as the shoot was scheduled to start in June. Vidya is currently shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani 2’ with Arjun Rampal.
