Kangana plays a Gujarati in Hansal Mehta's Simran

Director Hansal Mehta plans to put the actress through a lengthy workshop to get the accent right.

A girl from Gujarat in California, that’s who Kangana Ranaut will play in Hansal Mehta’s Simran once she is done with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon. This will be Kangana’s third accent-oriented role in a row after Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Rangoon. And perhaps the most difficult linguistic challenge for the actress till date.

Says a source, “In Simran, Kangana is not only a Gujarati girl, but someone who has spent many years in the US. So her language would have to be a mixture of Gujarati and American.” Hansal intends to put Kangana through a lengthy workshop to get the language right. The film will be shot in California and other parts of the US.

Says Hansal, “Simran will be my most expensive film till date. All my films so far have been shot in Mumbai or small towns of India. This is my first film to be set outside India.” About Kangana’s commitment he says, “She is super enthusiastic about the film and raring to go. We will start once she is done with Rangoon.”
