Kajol steps into Ranbir's shoes, turns grieving singer for her next?

Mumbai: Whether in ‘Rockstar’ or ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, Ranbir Kapoor has played the role of a heartbroken singer, who lost the love of his life and then took up singing as his passion.

The latest one to step into his shoes seems to be Kajol, who has chosen a similar script for her next Bollywood film directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by Ajay Devgn along with Abhinav Shukla.

A source informed Mid-Day, "Kajol plays the role of a young woman, who loves to sing. She aspires to become famous but is forced to get married instead. A turmoil in the relationship forces her to leave her husband and raise her child as a single parent. Later, she enhances her singing skills with encouragement from her son and eventually gets appreciated for her craft."

The film is tentatively titled 'Ela' and is an adaptation of Anand Gandhi’s play titled Beta, Kaagdo (Son, Crow). The search for a son to play the role in this film is still on.
