Sajid Nadiadwala to now release films independently without corporate tie-ups
Big corporate houses that had been ruling the Hindi film industry till recently, are rapidly losing their grip over the movie business. Even as news of trouble in major corporate production houses gain credence, we now hear that one of Bollywood’s most successful producers, Sajid Nadiadwala, has decided to release his films independently, and without a tie-up with any corporate houses.
Sajid’s move is fairly unusual, since most independent producers in the industry have so far collaborated with corporate houses, in order to get their films into theatres. However, reliable sources say that this trend is coming to a quick end.
The source says, “Sajid has a three-film deal with Eros International. He also has a three-film deal with UTV, which ends with Rangoon. He’s decided to now produce and release movies by himself. Baaghi 2 and Judwaa 2 will be Sajid’s first two independent, corporate-free productions.”
Apparently, several other independent producers feel the way Sajid does, and are moving away from the corporate format of release. So, does this spell the end of Bollywood’s tryst with corporatisation?
