Ravi Awana is a baddie with a difference

Actor Ravi Awana says playing the villain gives him a lot of scope

Ravi Awana has been on a signing spree and will be seen in a slew of films, including the Rajinikanth-starrer Annaatte and Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad.

In his next film Romantic, directed by Anil Paduri, Ravi plays a baddie with a difference.

“It’s a very stylish role and I have gone for a makeover. I have to speak more with my eyes than with dialogues, and it’s an intense role,” shares the actor, adding that he grew a long beard and even coloured his hair for the part.

Ravi is also playing a baddie in Annaatte. For him, sharing the screen with the Superstar has been a dream come true. “Rajini Sir and I had a few action sequences and it was an amazing experience. He has been practicing Kriya Yoga for several years. I am also into meditation. So it was a great opportunity for me to interact with him about the art of living,” says Ravi, adding that listening to Rajinikanth’s experiences was very inspiring.

“I found the experiences he shared of his showbiz life very insightful,” says Ravi, adding that he loves listening to and learning from the experiences of top stars.
“When I was shooting with Hrithik Roshan for WAR, I was amazed listening to his stories. I have tried to incorporate a few things I learnt from him, like change in approach to work, ” reveals Ravi.

As an actor, he loves baddie roles, and feels they give him a lot of scope. “I feel an actor can unleash himself in a baddie role and improvise to the maximum. Moreover, if everyone wants to play a hero, then who’ll be the baddie,” he quips. He also focusses on performance-oriented roles so that he can create a niche for himself. “The stronger the villain, the stronger the hero, right? So overall it makes the film more intense,” he says.

Speaking of Dhaakad, he says the best thing about Kangana is her approach to work and her focus. “The dedication with which she takes up roles and gets into the part is amazing,” he says, signing off.
