Kabir undergoes weapons training

Respect for soldiers has gone up, says actor

Stylish actor Kabir Duhan Singh recently went to Russia to undergo a gruelling two-day weapons training and rifle shooting programme with special focus on two guns — Elegance and Raptor 338. “It was a challenging experience,” Kabir said on his return to India. “I felt like a deadly hunter because these weapons are very intimidating.” It was the first time Kabir received such training, and he said that though it was mentally and physically taxing, it was well worth the time and effort. The actor described the training as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, more so because he went all the way to Moscow to train.

“I got an insight into the effort that goes into using guns,” he said. Each of the weapons cost an estimated Rs 75 lakh. The Elegance can shoot from a distance of around a kilometre, and the Raptor 338 can do three times that. “The weapons were heavy and I was trained in aspects like holding and positioning them, apart from operating the guns.

The training made me realise how difficult it is for our soldiers to operate these guns in real life, and my respect for them has gone up,” the actor added.

Kabir, who recently debuted in Malayalam with the film Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), starring Tovino Thomas, was also excited that he dubbed for his part. Apparently, the film’s director Jithin Lala tried several voice artistes but none of them could match Kabir’s personality. Hence, the film-makers felt it was best that Kabir dubbed for his own character.

“It was challenging yet exciting; Malayalam is considered a tongue twister, but I managed to get through. The director and team helped me with my lines. I felt very satisfied,” Kabir said
