Nimrat Kaur and Akshay Oberoi to star in Nagesh Kukunoor's next

Mumbai: The digital medium has definitely grabbed the attention of filmmakers and after Shirish Kunder, another filmmaker is set to foray into it, director of several critically acclaimed films, Nagesh Kukunoor.

Kukunoor is directing a web series, produced by Ekta Kapoor, which will star Nimrat Kaur and Akshay Oberoi.

Nimrat gained recognition for her role in Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’ and was later seen in the international series ‘Wayward Pines’.

And Akshay Oberoi recently completed the shooting of Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Kalagandi’ and National Award winning cinematographer Shanker Raman’s ‘Gurgaon’.

He was also seen in a short film last year, 'The Virgins' starring Divyendu Sharma and Pia Bajpai and hence the digital medium is not something alien for the actor.

About the web series, Akshay says, "It's a fantastic and extremely gripping story and we have started the shoot in Satara, Maharashtra. Nimrat is an amazing actor. I think working in projects like these helps hone any actor's abilities. That's why increasing number of actors are doing projects like this between movies. I have been a part of couple of web series and this format works very well. Renowned filmmakers getting in to this will only give the medium a boost."

Akshay plays an army officer while Nimrat essays the character of Commander and the two actors play a couple in the web series.
