I will be acting in two Marathi films: Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh talks about his upcoming Bollywood and Marathi projects, and his compact family of four.

Riteish Deshmukh is a personality to reckon within the field of glitz and glamour. Not many from the industry have the privilege of enjoying both, good professional as well personal lives. This Marathi witty dude is known for is humility and love that he spreads around him.

Ask him how much time does he give to his family, and he says, “Whenever I get a little time in the afternoon, I make it a point to pick my elder son from school. Also, with some free time after my professional assignments, I look forward to reaching home as early as possible to spend time with my younger kid and wife.”

Regarding passing over ethical values to his children, he says, “Genelia and I make it a point to impart those values that we have learned from our parents,” he claims.

“My elder son is very mischievous. Genelia being home more than I do helps the kids learn lessons. Whenever I get time, I too sit down with my older one’s books and enjoy time with him. We as parents want our kids to have a healthy and a prosperous life,” he confesses.

Riteish shares a strong bond with his wife, Genelia. “Surely, we do discuss every role of mine. She has a great acumen for production, and also helps me with my looks in all my films,” he says.

“I may or may not agree with her opinion, but we discuss our profession at home. I will be producing a Marathi film soon, and I am acting in two Marathi films as well. Mauli, Lai Bhaari and Chatrapati Shivaji are the films I am associated with. Genelia will look into the production aspect right from finances and other requirements. She has tried her hands in production down South earlier, and she knows her job well. Also, our latest Marathi film, Lai Bhaari was produced by her,” he informs.

Riteish’s Banjo is set to release this weekend, where he plays the role of a street musician. Comparing his reel character to the real Riteish, he quips, “Well, this guy has an attitude as he knows he is a good singer. Needless to say, he charges more for his performances. This heroic attitude is actually noticed in every actor. Every person has a little bit of heroic arrogance in him/her. This character will also quote the dialogue, ‘Hum jahan bhi khade ho jaye, line wahin se shuru hoti hai’ — but, it is not a copied Amitabh Bachchan dialogue. Also, you may notice a little of Aamir from his film, Rangeela in Banjo. Having said this, I reiterate that it does not mean we are copying any one in particular.”

So,does that mean, like in Banjo, his career graph could also see a rise? Will he be charging a heftier fee? “The rise and fall in the pay packet is not only witnessed in the field of glitz and glamour, but a formula among all professions”, he asserts.

“However, I am really happy with my filmy journey and its graph,” he concludes.
