Exclusive: Boney knows what I deserve, says Sridevi on taking a pay cut for Mom

Sridevi’s Mom is produced by her husband, Boney Kapoor. Ask if the superstar wife slashed her rate for her home production, and she retorts that Boney knows what she deserves. Sridevi says, “Boney knows my value and what I deserve, so I don’t have to talk about it, but we discussed the creative aspects. I am always tensed about every film that Boney invests in. If I say I am not stressed about Mom, I would be lying. I am worried for Boney, and I hope it does well. As a producer, he went all out to make it the best; now it’s up to the audience,” she added.

Being a film producer’s wife is not easy, Sridevi reveals. “There is so much pressure and stress. It’s like gambling where you bet your money on a story. God has been very kind, and our struggles have been worthwhile. Boney is a strong man and a fighter. Anyone else in his place would have disappeared from the industry. I admire that spirit in him. He fought back and emerged as a hero.” Directed by Ravi Udyawar, Mom is a woman-centric film, and will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on July 14.
