Never got stereotyped': Mouni Roy

The 34-year-old is extremely grateful to have been given such opportunities

Mouni Roy has certainly made a name for herself in the entertainment industry, be it television or film. After working with big names like Akshay Kumar and Rajkummar Rao in films like Gold and Made in China, the actress is now waiting for the release of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan.

The 34-year-old is extremely grateful to have been given such opportunities. “I consider myself very lucky and very thankful that all these really good roles have come to me. Sometimes only stereotypical roles come to people but this has not happened to me,” she sighs with relief, adding that she is happy to have done a wide variety of roles.

“I am getting different roles in films only because filmmakers trust me and can see me in those characters,” says Mouni, who finds that her features are quite versatile.

“I personally feel I look like a creature, but which particular creature I don’t know, I can’t figure it out. But this is why my face is very versatile you can turn me into a poor girl, a rich girl, or even an animal as I played Naagin. I can also be an innocent girl and maybe even like a tortured girl. It’s important as an actor to be versatile. Also to learn and experience, you need to shed your experience. This is very important,” Mouni notes.

When it comes to bad press, the RAW actress remains unfazed, citing her consistent professionalism.

“I have been here for almost 13 years, of which I have done television for 10 years. I would shoot for 18 or 19 hours, and yet I always reported before time. I have continued doing that for ten long years,” she shares, adding that she prefers to not to give it any attention. “There is a lot of dignity in being silent. So eventually, it really does not matter,” she says in conclusion.
