Rajiv-Sonia story in a short film!
What’s the buzz about TV actor Karanvir Bohra’s short film? Well, the film, produced by Karanvir, in which, he will also be seen acting, revolves around the love story between Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Talking about the movie, which is actually a tribute to Rajiv-Sonia Gandhi, Karanvir assures that the film has no political agenda. “It is a simple story, which is made to create a different type of content,” says Karan. “I am an actor and my job is to act, but sometime you come across an idea and you don’t want to wait for someone to back it. This is one such product,” he adds.
He explains that such a project may have been difficult to undertake a few years back when digital platforms were not effective yet. “I’ve always been fascinated with classic love stories of the 50s and the 60s. They don’t write such stories or make such movies anymore.”
Talking about how he hit upon the idea of the story, Karan says, “I was browsing through the Net, when I chanced upon the show, ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’, with late Mr Rajiv Gandhi. I was mesmerised by the way he spoke and the way he carried himself with such elegance. The way he would speak about Sonia Gandhi, how they met and how he mustered up the courage to seek permission from his mother.”
Priya Banerjee, who was last seen in the feature film Jazbaa, has been roped in to play the role of Sonia Gandhi, while Karanvir plays Rajiv. This short film, titled Ijazat, which will be made in English and Italian.
