Mumbai: Actor Shraddha Kapoor’s in a tight spot after a criminal case has been filed against her and the makers of her upcoming film 'Haseena Parkar' . Dressmakers A.J. Mistry and Thea Minhas say there has been a breach of contract as the actress failed to promote their fashion label.
A member of the Haseena Parkar team says both parties had mutually agreed that the brand’s logo would be prominently featured in the film and there would be ample credit in the opening titles.
“We have done both these things even though nothing was formal or official. So how can they challenge us legally? Yes, there was talk of Shraddha doing a fashion show for them. But it was clearly stated that it would depend on the time factor. If Shraddha had the time, she would have done the show. As simple as that,” says the source, who adds that they had to spend a lot of money on extra clothes.
“What was obtained from these two dressmakers was so inadequate that we had to spend Rs 20 lakh extra on Shraddha’s clothes. These are people trying to gain publicity from our film, just days away from release. If they had a genuine grievance, why did they wait until the last minute to initiate action against us?” asks the source.
