Will Rajinikanth promote MS Dhoni's biopic?

The Superstar could be roped in to increase publicity for the upcoming flick.

Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni is expected to promote his own biopic, M.S. Dhoni — The Untold Story, that is set to release in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu on September 30. The biopic stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role — and is the most anticipated film in recent times. Dhoni’s special connection with Chennai is well known, as he played for the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. Despite the fact that CSK has been banned from the IPL, Dhoni will be present in person for the Tamil version’s promotions in the city, as the cricketer considers namma ooru his second home!

And now, the big buzz is that MSD wants to rope in none other than Superstar Rajinikanth to promote the biopic down in south India. Both the celebrities share a good rapport and are fond of each other. Unconfirmed sources say Dhoni will meet Superstar on his trip to Chennai soon.

One may recall Mahi’s fan moment with Kabali recently, when he paid a tribute to Thalaivar! He shared a pic on his Instagram account, mimicking Rajinikanth’s Kabali pose along with the caption, “Tried copying the pose of The One and Only Thalaivar.”

If Rajini does agree to Dhoni’s request, then the film is sure to have a massive opening in Tamil Nadu. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the biopic will reportedly depict almost every aspect of the cricketer’s life — right from his days of being a railway ticket collector to becoming the Indian cricket team captain. It will also delve into unknown details of his personal life — including the relationship with his former girlfriend, played by Disha Patani. Sushant’s uncanny resemblance to Dhoni in the film has already pleased fans no end.

When we contacted Rajinikanth’s publicist, who also happens to be the film’s PRO, he was not aware of any such developments. All he said was, “Yes, there’s a plan to promote M.S. Dhoni — The Untold Story in Chennai, and Dhoni will attend it”.
