Neeraj Pandey in search of his hero
Now that Akshay Kumar has turned his back on all things Neeraj Pandey, the filmmaker seems to be busy wooing Ajay Devgn as a potential replacement in his cinema. The director, who won a National Award for his 2008-film Wednesday, might collaborate with Ajay on ambitious historical.
The past few years have not been kind to Neeraj. Ever since Akshay decided to part ways with him after they co-produced Baby, Rustom and Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Neeraj’s career has been floundering. Aiyaary, his ambitious espionage drama, written with Akshay Kumar in mind, was finally made with Manoj Bajpai in the lead.
It was a box-office disaster.
Neeraj must have realised everyday cannot be Sunday… or do we say Wednesday? But here’s wishing the Ajay Devgn factor brings at least as much joy and respite to the director’s career as his collaborations with Akshay did.
