Shah Rukh Khan's midnight meet with Rakesh Roshan

The tug-of-war between the makers of both the films has been going on for months now, but a resolution doesn't seem to be in sight.

If the makers of Raees thought that avoiding a clash with Sultan would end their woes, they were very wrong. After avoiding a clash with the Salman-starrer, the team of Raees announced that the film would now release on Republic Day next year.

However, this has now turned out to be a hasty decision as incidentally, the makers of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil too have zeroed in on the same day for release, leading to another big clash.

The tug-of-war between the makers of both the films has been going on for months now, but a resolution doesn’t seem to be in sight. In fact, the issue has reached a point where SRK has had to step up negotiations and on Monday night, the actor and the film’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani met Rakesh Roshan for a another long round of negotiations. Raees director Sanjay Gupta was apparently left out of the meeting as his rant on Twitter didn’t go down well with Sr Roshan.

A source revealed, “It was around midnight when the two entered Rakesh’s house and the conversation lasted for several hours. It was also rare for Sr Roshan to stay up so late in the night as he is in the habit of going to bed early. Both the parties discussed how the films would eat into each other’s business if they come out on the same day.”

While the Raees team has been hopeful of a resolution, the Kaabil team, who had announced their release date before Raees, seem in no mood to budge. A source revealed, “Rakesh inquired about SRK’s health and they spoke at length about other movies as well. In fact, SRK was quite inspired by some of the life-lessons that Rakesh gave him over the meeting. Ritesh, as a producer, stuck only to the matter at hand, hoping for an amicable solution to the release date clash. While he made a request to Rakesh to shift his release date, the latter refused to budge.”

After the meeting, SRK took to Twitter and said: “Met friend/mentor/family after many a days. Mr. R.Roshan reminded me…it’s not important to do 2 much, it’s important to get 1 right. Thx sir” (sic).
