Why Amit Sadh wants Akshay Kumar starrer Gold to release in April instead of August
When the Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, and Amit Sadh-starrer Gold releases on August 15, it will clash with Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika. While Amit, who is basking in the response to his Amazon Prime show Breathe with R. Madhavan, didn’t reveal much about the plot of the film and what his character does, he admits that he has been slogging for his role.
“I have never in my life worked so hard for any film or character as I have for Gold. I had to learn to play hockey. The film is about when India won the hockey gold in 1948. We could not compromise on the quality of hockey played, so there was a lot of hard work attached. Gold is very close to my heart and I am so excited that I would want the film to release in April instead of August,” he rattles off, all in one breath.
Amit says that he was handed his role and the film on a platter. “Reema (Kagti) is a very capable director. We had to train a lot. Her direction and research was so complete that we just had to go there, listen and perform,” he says.
Apart from Reema, the Kai Po Che! actor is overawed by his co-star Akshay Kumar. “Akshay sir is so amazing. I am very impressed by him. Our lifestyle and discipline match; even I sleep at 10 pm. His grasp on the craft is great and I learnt a lot from him,” he says.
And the actor, having given so much to the film, wants to work on romantic movies now. “Sports films take so much out of you that I want to say ‘I love you’ to someone on screen. You don’t get injured in love stories,” he chuckles.
