Kangana should move ahead with all her co-stars in an amicable manner: Shahid

Shahid comes clear on the alleged cold war between his co-stars Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut.

Since its announcement, Rangoon has kept movie buffs waiting — firstly, because it’s a Vishal Bhardwaj movie and secondly, it is a romantic drama in the backdrop of World War II. Not to mention the cast — Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut. However, the movie is again in the news and this time for another reason — ego clashes.

Rumours of a cold war between Saif and Shahid, and Shahid and Kangana have been doing the rounds for some time now. Kangana even confessed to the drift between her and Shahid; their ego issues were very evident during media interactions. Also, it has been reported that Saif was staying away from promotional events since he was unable to stand his co-actor. In a recent heavily-guarded interview controlled by his personal PROs, Shahid spoke about the issues. Though he was trying to appear cool, he was visibly having a tough time concealing his ego and anger.

Asked about the controversies and Kangana’s statements, Shahid feigned ignorance: “Yes, I too have read quite a few negative stories about me and Kangana. At first, I was surprised reading such news. However, unlike the one who has put out these tell tales, it is not in my nature to give such wrong statements to the media.”

In a tone of anger, he added, “I would not like to play a table tennis match on this whole episode by answering to each of her comments. I just wish to put an end to this match. Kangana should move ahead with all her co-stars in an amicable manner and work with a team spirit.”

So, will he be seen sharing screen space with her in more movies? “This will be decided in the future if any such proposal comes my way. I never decide anything on the basis of a game plan,” he adds.

However, he has high regards for Kangana as an actor. “She is a brilliant actor; her exuberant performance in the film will surely be appreciated and having worked with Kangana, I too felt great.”

The movie is reported to have some steamy scenes and unlike in real life, the chemistry between the lead actors seems to be very good. And Shahid says his performance has nothing to do with chemistry.

“As an actor, nothing makes a difference to me while performing. It does not matter if I perform opposite a good or a bad actor; I just give my best and that has been my policy so far. You can put me in any stadium and let any great bowler or wicket keeper play against me and I just believe in giving it the best shot. Working with an actor- whoever it is — doesn’t make a difference to me. We are all professionals; we work together sincerely to bring out a good film. Rangoon has turned out to be a great film,” he adds.
