Box-office: Simran tanks after weekend despite Kangana's towering performance

The film had released opposite Farhan Akhtar's recent release 'Lucknow Central'.

Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut had been in the news for all the right and wrong reasons, but her second release of the year has faild to leave a mark at the box-office as well.

Kangna, whose equations with Aditya Pancholi and Hrithik Roshan, had both made their way into the media’s rigorous scrutiny, through her promotional activities for Hansal Mehta’s ‘Simran’.

However, the hype didn’t translate into great numbers as the film failed to perform at the box-office, with the film earning terribly below expectations.

According to boxofficeindia(dot)com, the film managed a mere 2.43 crores on Friday, 3.40 croes on Saturday, 3.65 crores on Sunday and a barely there 1.15 crores on Monday (Aprroximate figures).

The figures are despite the terrific reviews flowing in for Kangana’s performance and minimal challenge from Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Lucknow Central,’ the other release of the week.

Kangana’s other big release of the year, ‘Rangoon,’ had also been a box-office dud.

It remains how the actress manages to get beyond the debacle of these films, as both were banking heavily on the three timenational award winning actress’ stardom.
