I play a pithoo in Kedarnath, says Sushant on film opposite Sara
Is there a more systematic method actor in Bollywood today than Sushant Singh Rajput? For every role he takes on, the actor gives his blood, sweat, and tears to perfect the role. And then some more.
While he’s immersed into playing an astronaut in Sanjay Puran Singh Chahuhan’s Chandamama Door Ke, Sushant has also started preliminary preparation for his next challenge. It’s in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, where he plays a tourist escort, who carries the old and ailing on his back to the holy place. Grins Sushant, “I play a pithoo in Kedarnath.” As far as the movie’s plot goes, Sushant is cast as the pithoo, who Sara Ali Khan, a rich and beautiful tourist, falls in love with.
Sushant, for the record, won’t be faking the pithoo’s burden. He will actually be shown carrying people on his back across the tough mountainous terrain of Kedarnath.
Speaking about his preparations for every part he plays, Sushant says, “Preparation for me is mandatory. How else could I have a chance of actually changing my spontaneity, or giving myself enough reason to believe that I’m the character? Even as far as Chandamama Door Ke is concerned, I’m training on simulators, constantly working on the character, going through the theories of astrophysics. I visited NASA last month for training, and the experience was remarkable. The idea is to convince myself that I’m an astronaut or a pithoo even before the beginning of the shoot.”
